Our home was built in 1952 and was not built with energy efficiency in mind. There was no insulation in the walls or ceiling in our home. My wife and I decided to remodel our entire home. We added R30 and R13 in our walls and ceilings. Changed all lightbulbs from incadensent to flourescent bulbs and compact flourescent bulbs. We installed a central heating/air conditioner with a 16.5 SEER rating. And just recently we installed an energy efficient, energy star metal roof with ridge vents. We installed energy star double pane windows throughout the house. Our home energy bill was cut by 60% once we were finished.
