I have an electric meter that has different rates for different times of the day and all weekend. If you wash clothes or do most electric use in the evenings and weekends you will save money over the flat rates. Doing this also saves money on the electric bill if you unplug most all TV, Stereo, and Computer equipment during the day went most people are at work. You can get a 15 amp electronic controller to unplug computer and tv equipment during the times its not likely to be used and works the same way a programmable thermomenter works.
